Had one of my rare crash nights wherein the sleep deprivation finally takes over and I'm able to fall asleep at a decent time and get a proper eight hours in before work. The mornings still suck, though. Work still got my head spinning, we're so far behind on everything, but sold units keep jumping the queue so the old stuff just keeps getting older forever? I need more techs, but so many of them are BAD.

Less than a week to vacation. I need to confirm my flights and hotels, I'm missing a whole bunch of email confirmations. :\

24. Do You Want to Live to 100?

200 or bust.

Today's lunchtime joshi match is DASH Chisako vs. Momo Watanabe in what looks to be a random Sendai Girls Korakuen Hall show? Hardcore match Momo!!!

Current mood: hungry. Less than two hours to home, and we've finally made it back up to 0 degrees outside. Fallout with supper tonight.

I have spent two days having no goddamn clue what day it is?? I sent in all my weekly numbers yesterday like an idiot, was all ready to go for my Thursday meeting today at 10:30 on the dot, actively confused at several points throughout, just... why??? I think I'm slipping prematurely into vacation mode, gotta get my head back in the game.

Torn between perogies and Wok Box tonight. Both sound delicious, but one is much easier, but also I need to save money because trip. An episode of Wonder Man with whichever I decide, I think.

Stayed up toooooo laaaaaate last night reading Pet Sematary, because at the end of the day, we all just want to feel twelve again, don't we?

23. What Old, Worn Out Thing Can You Just Not Part With?

There are a lot of jokes I could make here, but the real answer is my little stuffed tiger from when I was a kid. I took him everywhere, and he is ragged and covered in blue ink from a pen exploding in my backpack in grade one and stuffed super full because I had loved him pretty flat until Matante Louisa redid him for me at one of my many visits to her cool old house just across from the Olympic ski jump venue where she had a spiral staircase and a basement full of fabric scraps to play with and a clock that opened up every hour and little Dutch children would spin around inside and now he sits on the shelves above my bed with my (much newer) plush wrestler dolls.

Today's lunchtime joshi match is Mayu Iwatani, Mika Iwata & Mio Momono vs. Takumi Iroha, Miyuki Takase & Utami Hayashishita from last week's NOAH Universe Magic 2026. An all-star affair featuring wrestlers from like three different promotions that really drove home how I need to work harder to get my money's worth out of my Wrestle Universe subscription, because goddamn this is good stuff. I miss Utami!!!

Watched the Oscars! They were fun, though not nearly as exciting as Revolution was, so I made the right call on Sunday! Also Mom quit her job and I'm stressed about it, but not nearly as stressed as I am about my own job and how bad my numbers are because I only have one useless tech at the moment, but not stressed enough about either of those things to dampen my excitement about my upcoming vacation, now just over a week away! Though I'm also stressed about that, because travel! I sense an episode of Heated Rivalry and some Sailor Moon in my immediate future. Hopefully I remember to pay my credit card bills.

Album #525/1001: Queen - A Night at the Opera )

Today's lunchtime joshi match was Shoko Nakajima vs. Emi Sakura from Wrestle Princess V. Queen vs. Kaiju, you simply love to see it!!!

AEW's last PPV before the next one that I will be attending was last night, and it was a good 'un! I'm still mad that I had to miss the Oscars just to watch it, but I certainly do not regret doing so. At least four solid MotY contenders in the mix, though none of them were surprises in that respect. TO THE CUT!!!

AEW Revolution 2026 )

Today's lunchtime joshi match was Syuri vs. Suzu Suzuki from the 2023 5★STAR Grand Prix. Hell yeah. That is all.

I don't usually update on the weekends anymore, but I'm riding high on getting to see some MOVIES BUT BIG again, so why not. The Lord of the Rings extended editions marathon at Keyano was awesome, even if my knees and ass were very sore by the end of it all (I got super high for The Two Towers, which mitigated a lot of the pain on day 2, thankfully). Hopefully they get some more screenings in to continue to fill the giant hole in the community's heart left by the continued closure of the movie theatre. I feel... healed, somewhat.

Album #524/1001: Elvis Costello & The Attractions - Armed Forces )

Today's SPECIAL BONUS joshi match while I wait for my hair to dry and get settled in for Revolution in two hours is Sareee vs. Arisa Nakajima from the SEAdLINNNG 8th Anniversary show. I will probably never get into watching SEAdLINNNG very much, because that would necessitate typing SEAdLINNNG more than I currently do, but this match is baller.

Okay, time to down a couple of edibles, order Wok Box, and light candles for the Old Man Yaoi return prayer circle. I don't know what's all going to go down at Revolution tonight, but I know it'll be a ride. And then I guess I'll just watch the Oscars after work tomorrow or something???? Fuck!!!

I MADE IT TO FRIDAY. I only have one used tech for the next week and am completely buried in units that need to be inspected, but we've managed to get broadly on top of the sold ones, at least, so I'm hoping today will be a little more chill than things have been of late. The fact that I'm able to write this entry in the morning is a good sign!

Eddie Kingston and Ortiz announced for MLP/ROH in Windsor. Taka Michinoku announced for Mystery Wrestling in Edmonton. KENTA announced for Mystery Wrestling in Vancouver. This vacation is going to heal me, I just know it. Also I'll be in proximity to working movie theatres again! Kicking into ~ cinema ~ mode the second I clock out today for today and tomorrow's LotR EE marathon down at Keyano -- hopefully that will make up for missing the Oscars in favour of Revolution on Sunday. Old man yaoi Edge & Christian returning then will also heal me (it's one year after Christian screwed him for the world title in last year's main-event-that-should-not-have-been-the-main-event! Dynasty will be one year since FTR turned heel on Cope and they'll probably still have the belts in a month! Nick Wayne is finally back in action! ALL THE PIECES ARE IN PLACE).

Album #523/1001: Marianne Faithfull - Broken English )

Today's lunchtime joshi match will be a long-haul, Sareee & KAIRI vs. Arisa Nakajima & Takumi Iroha from Sareee-ISM Chapter II. Kinda wish I hadn't blown my weekly burrito taxi budget on horrible little dough balls yesterday so I could get a wrap or something to eat with it, but alas. They were so good, though. Anyway, I really need to dig into Sareee's self-produced shows, they seem like banger factories!

Another day, another bunch of annoying shit added to the duties I'm already absolutely drowning in. God, I hope this is just a particularly busy spell and not the new normal. And then as soon as I get home, Mom will proceed to dump all of HER work stresses on me, too, and aaaaaagh. It's not that I don't like listening to problems or venting, it's just that it's WORK. Stop CARING so much about it when you're not AT WORK. I don't talk about my job at all when I'm not here, because I'm not paid to care about this shit when I'm not here! But she just spends all her free time replaying and relitigating all of her frustrations ad nauseum and it's driving her crazy, and she's driving me crazy in turn! She's back to talking about going on temporary disability leave to get out of it, so we'll see how that all turns out. Vacation still cannot come soon enough (less than two weeks!). The Fellowship of the Rings at Keyano tomorrow. I think I'm going to need to order some horrible little dough balls from Papa John's tonight to carry me through until then.

Album #522/1001: Richard Hawley - Coles Corner )

Today's lunchtime joshi match was Mei Suruga vs. Mei Seira from ChocoPro #452; some playful, high-speed silliness after yesterday's hard-hitting badassery. Mei Suruga is three apples tall and I would die for her, and Mei Seira's entrance music remains an insane earworm.

Work crazy, brain broken. Ate a big ol' wrap for lunch and I have regrets, but it was extremely delicious. T-MINUS TWO WEEKS TO VACATION.

Album #521/1001: U2 - War )

Today's lunchtime joshi match was Manami Toyota vs. Hikari Fukuoka from Japan Grand Prix 1993 and it absolutely fucks. What's that word for nostalgia for a time/place you never knew? Because just sitting down to watch this and a season 2 episode of Sailor Moon on a random Saturday sounds absolutely peak right now.

Note to future self: look more into the Brudi Brothers. I really like their recent KEXP set a lot.

I still have several hours of work left and I'm very annoyed at whiny salespeople and their passive-aggressive emails. It's still on the cold side, but better than yesterday. I'm hungry, but not allowed to order myself anything until Friday after the movie (!!). Bearing down.

Another weird/sad thing that happened last week was when we learned that my stepdad when I was in grade 1/2 apparently died a couple of years ago. His obituary was a very barebones thing posted by the funeral home, no mentions of any family or arrangements and only one comment from a woman who apparently took care of him in a public health facility in Calgary some years earlier. I wonder what happened to him. I can't say that I look back on my time living with him particularly fondly -- he was very volatile and struggled with mental illness and I was far too young to understand any of that -- but I do still have a few nice memories of him and hope his life wasn't too rough. I think I really shook Mom when I told her. He was a very big part of a very small part of my life, ultimately, but she loved him enough to marry him in a bar once as a couple of crazy twentysomethings. The past is another country! RIP, Rey.

Album #520/1001: Bon Jovi - Slippery When Wet )

Today's lunchtime joshi match was Arisu Endo vs. MIRAI from Tokyo Joshi Pro '26, which is actually the only TJPW show I've watched in full this year. I keep meaning to watch more, especially since I'm going to be attending two of their dates next month, but there are only so many hours in a week, god damn it! Anyway, it's a good one, even if I thought the main event was better; nice to see MIRAI and her janky teeth again since I fell out of watching Marigold a while back.

Okay, hi, hello! I have not looked at Dreamwidth in like a month due to a combination of work being crazy, Mom's constant freaking out about her work wearing me down, and general winter depression exacerbated by more acute 'the movie theatre will be closed for another three goddamn months' depression, but here I am! Going to try to turn things around!

I have seen two local theatre productions (Fiddler on the Roof and The Lion and the Jewel) and one ballet (A Midsummer Night's Dream) since my last update, and while it doesn't fill the gaping hole in my life left from going to the movies on the regular, it has certainly helped a lot. Arts! They're also going to screen all three extended editions of The Lord of the Rings this weekend, so that's something else to look forward to, even if the seats there are not nearly as comfortable as those of our lone cinema.

It was six degrees above zero on Saturday. It was back down to -30 this morning. I'm TIRED.

My grandmother had a very scary health crisis a week ago; we went downtown to essentially say goodbye to her Monday night after she had a seizure and was sent to the ER before being diagnosed with a massive brain bleed. A few hours later, however, once they were able to get a proper look at her scans, it turned out to actually just be a tumour the size of a golf ball, which is, somehow, a much better immediate outcome? She was released back to her care home the next day and seemed fine when we went back to visit her. She's on anti-seizure meds and some steroids to bring down the inflammation and life just goes on, I guess, big-ass tumour and all. Her sister came up from Edmonton to visit for the weekend, which was nice.

I have let my inbox get up over 1000 unread emails again. I was doing so well for a while.

In better news, my upcoming vacation is completely booked. I did forget that WPW tickets went on sale Friday until that evening and had to settle for a standing room only ticket, but at least it wasn't completely sold out yet (as it is now). My presence for Mercedes' crash-out era is confirmed, I hope Jody Threat throws her off the Nonsuch.

Revolution this weekend. If Hangman and Kris both losing big world title matches on the same night is the karmic price I have to pay for All Out, so be it. Still at the exact same time as the Oscars, which is deeply infuriating, but maybe they're doing it to save me from how sad they would probably just make me, because the last movie I was able to see in a theatre was fucking Anaconda. Hopefully I'll be able to still catch Hoppers somewhere once I'm travelling in a couple of weeks. If C&C don't finally show back up after the tag title match, I will self-harm by watching Money Plane.

Album #519/1001: ABBA - Arrival )

Okay, hopefully I will continue with the regular updates again, back to work! Going to spend my lunch break with this joshi match pack somebody put together. Monday's match is Mina Shirakawa, Maika, and Mei Seira vs. Saya Kamitani, Tam Nakano, and AZM from Supercard of Honor 2024, which I recall as being a low-key banger, so I welcome you to join me!

PS: Fuck daylight savings!
